St. Joseph's Hospital is Writing a New and Significant Chapter in History!

On August 10, 2010, St. Joseph's Hospital announced plansto build a new hospital in Highland. The new St. Joseph's Hospital & health center promises to be a facility far different than what patients and local residents have experienced before.

Designed to emphasize healing and wellness with a focus on outpatient treatment and therapy, the new hospital will provide an extraordinary patient experience and allow patients to avoid unwanted overnight stays, assist healing at home and provide "best in class" delivery of care. Additional planning will include future growth and expansion opportunities for ambulatory (outpatient) services and development of a medical office building.

However, the most important feature that the new St. Joseph's Hospital & health center will provide is a decreased need to travel away from Highland, thereby making St. Joseph's the local health care provider of choice.

Another Step Toward Making the New Hospital A Reality...

A joint venture team of Korte & Luitjohan Contractors, Inc. and McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. has been awarded the pre-construction services contract related to building the new St. Joseph's Hospital (SJH) in Highland.

Together, the team brings more than 200 years of construction and general contracting experience to the new hospital project. The team was selected due to their extensive hospital replacement experience, including what they have done with relevant projects in the state of Illinois.

The Korte & Luitjohan/McCarthy team has been meeting regularly with the project architect Odell Associates, Inc. and their engineering partners to align project scope to budget/estimate construction pricing and to ensure that SJH gains the most value for their investment. The construction team will also evaluate design refinements, continue to provide value analysis, and lead a program to maximize local subcontractor participation when construction begins.
