The Friends’ Van provides transportation to individuals for medical or dental appointments and other personal appointments.

The van service is totally supported by the Friends’ of St. Joseph’s Foundation. The service is free to the riders although we accept donations from them. Many service organizations in Highland have supported the van service.

The service area includes the area in a 20 mile radius of Highland. In addition to Highland, this includes Breese, Grantfork, Alhambra, Pocahontas, St. Jacob, Marine, Pierron, Aviston, Trenton, and Troy. The van operates Monday through Friday from 7:30 to 4:00. Almost 90% of the trips are for Highland residents.

Medical appointments are a priority. We bring people from these communities to all physicians, dentist offices, chiropractors, pharmacies, and to our hospital. We also transport patients home or to a nursing home when they are discharged from our hospital. Personal requests fill up the days with personal shopping, nursing home visits, nutrition site, food pantry, etc.

This free van service is very important to our community. Think of the benefits to families when we can take their elderly parents or those with no means of transportation to local appointments and to the medical offices and retail establishments that our riders visit.
