Volunteers

The St. Joseph's Hospital Auxiliary was organized to promote and advance the welfare of the hospital through public relations, volunteer services and financial support. The Auxiliary offers volunteers the opportunity to provide special services for patients and visitors of St. Joseph's. In addition to volunteer duties, Auxiliary members are invited to five meetings a year. Four of the meetings typically feature a presentation on new or expanding hospital services, with the fifth being a Christmas brunch featuring entertainment and prizes.

In addition to non-routine assistance needed by hospital departments, the Auxiliary offers many volunteer opportunities, including those listed below. If you are interested in putting your time and talents to work to help others at St. Joseph's Hospital, please call 651-2590.

Gift Shop

Open from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., with some evening hours. Two-hour shifts are available.

Main Lobby

Greeting and assisting visitors and patients.

Same-Day Surgery

Answering phones and greeting visitors and patients.

Extended/Resident Care Center

Assisting activities director as needed in personal activities with patients. May include evenings and weekends.

Messenger/Specialty Clinic

Escorting patients and running errands among departments.

Purchasing/Receiving

Sorting and delivering patient mail, sorting mail, distributing newspapers and other clerical tasks.

The Auxiliary and St. Joseph's Hospital also hold a number of special events throughout the year at which volunteers are needed.These include:

• New & Used Book Sales (preparation and sale days)
• Blood Drives (quarterly)
• Garage Sale (preparation and sale days)
• Bake Sales (following regular meetings)
• Card Parties (quarterly - 5th Thursday of the month)
• Friends of St. Joseph's Golf Tournament (August)
• Community Health Fair
• Periodic Health Screenings
• Fund-raising & Raffles
• Medical Scholarship Program
